Swedish church books are the most common records Swedish researchers use to research their family history.  These books are a “gold mine” because they are complete and detailed.  Using the church books, one can often trace a person from birth to death or emigration.  Other widely used records for researching Swedish ancestry are estate inventories, military records, and tax records.  Arkiv Digital boats a wealth of sources, some of which like orphanages, clergy, police reports and photos are often overlooked or remain undiscovered.  At this lecture we will delve into these hidden gems, each with the unique potential to enhance your family research.

Kathy Meade is the North American representative for Arkiv Digital AD AB.  This company offers online access to newly-photographed color images of the Swedish church books and other historical records.  She has been working with Swedish genealogy for nearly twenty years.  Ms. Meade serves on the advisory board for the Swedish American Genealogy Research Center at the Swedish American Museum of Chicago.  In a previous life, she lived and worked in Sweden and Norway for seven years.
